Product Care
Leather Care
CONDITIONING -
Taking care of your Tanner Goods leather products is essential to maintain their beauty and longevity. We recommend regularly conditioning your leather items with a high-quality leather conditioner to keep them hydrated and supple. Apply the conditioner using a soft cloth and allow it to absorb into the leather for optimal nourishment.
CLEANING -
When it comes to cleaning your leather goods, use a damp cloth with mild soap or leather cleaner to gently wipe away dirt or stains. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the leather's natural finish. After cleaning, allow the leather to air dry away from direct heat sources to prevent drying out.
PATINA AND AGE -
Embrace the natural aging process of leather, as it will develop a unique patina over time, adding character and charm to your cherished possessions. For more detailed care instructions, refer to our leather care guide to ensure your Tanner Goods products age gracefully and accompany you on many adventures to come.
Ceramic Care
WASHING YOUR CERAMICS -
Mazama ceramics are dishwasher safe. We recommend the use of a non-abrasive detergent when dish-washing to prevent unnecessary wear on some glazes. When loading your dishwasher, please make sure your tableware is not in contact with other dishes. Please avoid high temperature settings.
FLATWARE MARKS ON CERAMICS -
It is possible for flatware to leave marks on the surface of all ceramics. This is actually the softer metal rubbing off onto the harder glaze surface. The high-firing temperature and non-porous glaze ensure that there is no penetration into the ceramic glaze itself.
If these marks happens, we suggest hand washing with a small amount of Bar Keepers Friend and water to gently remove these marks. This is something that can be done periodically to add a little extra shine to your tableware for special occasions or gatherings.
HEAT EXPOSURE -
Most ceramics, while durable, are not resistant to shattering if they are immediately exposed to extreme temperature changes. There is no exception to Mazama Ceramics. Essentially, if a vessel was used for a hot substance or removed from a hot dish washer, avoid immediately exposing it to cold substances like ice cream or iced coffee.
We do not recommend using our ceramics in the oven, the stovetop, or near open flames. While ceramics experience extremely high temperatures in the kiln, our tableware was not designed to be used for cooking.
STAINS -
Staining can occur in glazes if food, especially if it's highly acidic, is left in contact with ceramics for extended periods. For this reason, we recommend using Mazama tableware for serving food, not storage. However, if this does happen, we suggest hand washing with Bar Keepers Friend.
INDIVIDUALITY -
Our materials and process results in natural variations between each Mazama piece. This unique character is something we celebrate! These are hand-crafted products with subtle variation in glaze color, finish and texture that bring a distinct personality to our ceramics.
Rather than seeing these variations as flaws, we feel that they add to the one-of-a-kind charm of our collection. Every item is inspected by our team to ensure the highest quality of each piece of Mazama Ceramics.
Glassware Care
WASHING YOUR GLASSWARE -
All drinkware and serving vessels are dishwasher safe. We recommend a non-abrasive detergent, placing them in the top rack and avoid using any extra high temperature settings. When loading your dishwasher, please make sure your glassware is not in contact with other dishes.
To keep your glassware looking its best, please avoid stacking for storage.
INDIVIDUALITY -
Each piece of glassware is hand blown which results in natural variations between each item. Color, transparency and even weight can all vary slightly due to this process. It’s part of the distinct character of these pieces and something that we celebrate because of the unique charm it brings to your table and home.
Every item is inspected by our team to ensure the highest quality of each glass.
Knife Care
These knives will offer a lifetime of use with proper care. Here are a few recommendations to ensure the best performance for the long haul.
WASHING -
We recommend that you wash your knives by hand with a non-abrasive detergent and dry them promptly to prevent unnecessary wear of the blade or handle. We do not recommend the use of dishwashers as it adds unnecessary wear that results in a dull blade and can add excessive wear to the handle.
CUTTING + SHARPENING -
Using a cutting board will ensure a long edge life of your knife. We recommend honing the blade between uses to keep a straight edge that will result in the sharpest cutting experience every time.
Once or twice a year, you may need to sharpen your knife. This is the process of actually grinding the blade to produce a new, sharp edge. If you’re unsure how to do this, we recommend taking your knives to be sharpened by a professional service.
INDIVIDUALITY OF WOOD HANDLES -
Our knives feature a Yellow Sandalwood option that brings the unique warmth of this natural material to your kitchen. While this material has been stabilized for durability, there are subtle variations in grain that ensure each piece carries the timeless character only found in the unique quality of natural wood.
